Who we are

BuildState.Studio is a founder community and AI coaching platform. This page explains, in plain language, what information the platform handles and what we do and do not do with it. It is written to be read. Questions or requests: chandon@buildstate.studio.

What we collect

Account basics: your email, name, and login credentials (passwords are handled by our authentication provider and never visible to us). Your work on the platform: assessment answers and archetype results, your Skill Gap intake (goal, blocker, self-ratings, evidence you write), your conversations with the AI coaches, weekly check-ins, projects and milestones, ratings you give coach replies, and skill progress events. Usage counts: how many coaching turns you use per day, for metering. Free tools: if you use the free Skill Gap read (on the site or inside our ChatGPT GPT), we receive what the flow sends - your goal, blocker, and ratings - and your email only if you choose to save your results. Payments, when live, are processed by Stripe; card details go to Stripe, not to us.

How the AI coaching works

When you message a coach, your message and relevant context (your profile, project state, skill map, and the platform's coaching knowledge) are processed by AI model providers acting as processors on our behalf - currently Anthropic, and OpenAI where you bring your own key or where overflow capacity is used. These providers process your content to generate the reply. We do not use your private content to train third-party foundation models. Your conversations are stored so your coaches can remember you across sessions; that memory is scoped to your account.

Your controls

The Tune menu on your coaching board controls how coaching uses your information: archetype personalization can be switched off, skills you lock are never coached or targeted with resources, and coaching intensity is yours to set. Share-progress is a separate opt-in, OFF by default: when on, your skill-growth patterns contribute to anonymous aggregate statistics (averages and counts across consenting founders) that help improve coaching for everyone. Aggregates never include your words, your name, or anything identifying, and switching the toggle off removes you from future aggregate calculations.

The BuildState GPT inside ChatGPT

If you use our GPT in ChatGPT, your conversation with ChatGPT itself is governed by OpenAI's terms and privacy policy. When the GPT calls our analysis engine, our server receives only what the flow sends: your goal, your blocker, your five self-ratings, and - only if you choose to save results - your email. We log the request for capacity protection. We do not receive the rest of your ChatGPT history.

What we never do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not show one founder's private content to another founder. We do not use your private coaching conversations in marketing. Community features only ever show what you deliberately make public.

Retention and deletion

Your data persists while your account is active so your coaches can keep their memory of you. Email chandon@buildstate.studio from your account email to request deletion of your account and associated data, or removal of a saved free-analysis email; we will confirm when it is done. Some minimal records may be retained where required for security, fraud prevention, or legal obligations.

Cookies and analytics

We keep this minimal: authentication uses the cookies and local storage required to keep you signed in, and our hosting providers collect standard technical logs (like IP addresses) to run and protect the service, including rate limiting on free tools.

Changes

If this policy changes in ways that matter, we will update this page and the date below. Continued use after changes means the updated policy applies.
